Irony in The Lady or the Tiger

Posted on October 12th, 2011 in Final Project by Brittney

TS: The irony was that the princess’ decision for her lover hurt her either way.
CD: The princess had to chose death or marriage to another woman for her lover.
CM: This is because the king didnt think of his daughters happiness before making the decision to send her lover to the arena.
CM: This leads up to the princess’ showing how much she loves the young man for if she did she would want him to be happy.
CS: As a result, the princess’ decision was a difficult one for her because it would have a negative effect on her.

Brittney, this is another case of arriving at a different CS than your TS starts out with. What is ironic about the story? Is it the choice, or is it that the author doesn’t tell us what she chose? What does that do to the story?
