TS: The irony was that the princess’ decision for her lover hurt her either way.
CD: The princess had to chose death or marriage to another woman for her lover.
CM: This is because the king didnt think of his daughters happiness before making the decision to send her lover to the arena.
CM: This leads up to the princess’ showing how much she loves the young man for if she did she would want him to be happy.
CS: As a result, the princess’ decision was a difficult one for her because it would have a negative effect on her.

Irony in The Gift of the Magi

Posted on October 12th, 2011 in Final Project by Brittney

TS: Its ironic that the couple gave up something special for gifts and ended up not being able to use either gift.

CD: For instance, Jim bought the combs with the money from the watch and Della bought the fob with the money from her hair.

CM: Giving up the possessions that they took pride in shows great love for one another.

CM: Jim is a good husband for not being mad at Della for cutting her hair.

CS: The couple proved their love for each other during this Christmas because they overcame this irony.

The Bass the River and Sheila Mant- 1 chunk paragraph

Posted on October 7th, 2011 in Final Project by Brittney

In “The Bass the River, and Sheila Mant” should the narrator have cut the line? Why or why not?

TS: The narrator, in The Bass the River, and Sheila Mant, did the right thing by cutting the line.

CD: The narrator says, “There would be other Sheila Mants in my life, other fish,”(205)

CM: This is an important lesson because he will be able to move on from girls like her.

CM: Also, he can help others by teaching them the same lesson.

CS: The narrator knew he did the right thing in the end.
